Quality and Design of Hiboy MAX3 Electric Scooter:

The Hiboy MAX3 features a black design with red finishes. The design is the classic electric scooter one, with nothing so special to stand out on the street. The wide deck and thick tires, however, give the scooter a bulky look that makes you feel solid and stable on the street.

The design is foldable which is ideal for commuters, however, the frame weight (40 lbs) could be too heavy for someone (especially kids or teens). If the path you need to cover every day to school or work demands you to lift your electric scooter every once in a while (for example, if there are stairs inside your building and you need to take the e scooter with you) 40 lbs can become a little uncomfortable. However, if you only need to commute to your workplace or to the bus station, the frame weight doesn’t put any limit on your usage.

The thick frame makes the Hiboy MAX3 ideal for big and tall – or heavy – people. The maximum weight it can carry is 200 lbs; this means that carrying a bag with you doesn’t become a problem when you have to ride your electric scooter.

Handlebars

The new MAX3 handlebar is the main aesthetic difference between the two predecessors. The Hiboy MAX3 features a V-shaped handlebar with rubberized handgrips and a triangular display. This way, the display becomes just part of the handlebar with the numbers and data appearing on the black background.

The main controls on the handlebar, other than the display button, are the throttle and brake. The throttle is a push-down lever on the right side, made highly visible with its red finish on the full-black handlebar. On the left side, the brake lever is placed in the front of the left handgrip and you can pull it just like you’d do on your bike.

Brakes

The Hiboy MAX3 is provided with a single brake lever but a dual brake system. One brake is electric and operable by the brake lever on the left handgrip, while the second is a traditional mechanic rear brake, that you can operate with your rear foot.

Since the e scooter has a maximum speed of 20 mph, these brakes are more than enough to guarantee a safe stop when needed. The brake lever is also highly responsive when you need to just slow down gently with your Hiboy MAX3 Electric Scooter.

Tires

The tires are a big improvement compared to the previous versions of the Hiboy MAX. They are thicker and wider. The Hiboy MAX3 features 10-inch pneumatic tires.

Pneumatic tires are a big improvement from solid ones since they can provide enhanced balance, stability, and comfort during the ride. They are not just pneumatic rather than solid, the MAX3’s tires are even wider and thicker: which provides even better stability and control over your electric scooter as you go.

Lights

The Hiboy MAX3 comes with an integrated light system. It includes:

  • A front white headlight; this is efficient in signaling your presence on the road but, as it often happens, if you need to see in the dark when riding at night, this won’t be enough. You’ll need to purchase an additional powerful headlight for your electric scooter.

  • Rear red lights: these are also very helpful in signaling your presence on the road and make you visible to other street users.

  • A blue LED light on the deck highlights the Hiboy logo. This has a purely aesthetic function.

Deck

The wider deck allows an improved balance. It also allows riding with your feet one next to the other, instead of having a rear and front one. Some riders find this riding position more comfortable as they feel more secure on the device.

However, since this electric scooter has a rear manual brake (that you can operate pushing the fender down on the tire with your rear foot, we should highlight that the most secure riding position is with one foot front and one placed behind ready to go on the brake.

Handlebar

Assembling

The Hiboy MAX3 comes in a nicely packaged box that includes:

  • The electric scooter;

  • power adapter;

  • Screws and tools;

  • Manual

  • Pump

The only element that needs to be assembled is the handlebar on the stem tube. It’s an extremely easy operation: there are 8 screws that need to be tightened all around the base of the handlebar and it’s done. All the screws and tools you need are included in the package.

The included pump was a pleasant surprise: there aren’t many electric scooter brands that include a pump in the package of an e scooter with pneumatic tires. They usually limit to providing a manual that recommends inflating the tires properly and checking their pressure.

Performance for Hiboy MAX3 Electric Scooter:

Being an electric scooter aimed at commuters, the Hiboy MAX3 is equipped with anything you need in terms of speed and security. The maximum speed of 18.6 mph is provided by a 350W brushless motor. This is more than enough to comfortably travel from home to work or school and vice versa. A faster electric scooter would be useless and a waste of money, since there are speed limits for electric scooters in every city of the world.

The brakes are safe and efficient enough to stop the electric scooter quickly when needed. They are also highly responsive and allow the rider to have gentle control over their electric scooter.

The Hiboy MAX3 can ride uphill but can’t ask too much from it. Dirty lanes are also practicable, but again avoid requiring too much from your electric scooter: this is not an off-road trail device: this is meant to be ridden on the street, asphalt, or pavement.

Battery life and charging time

The Hiboy MAX3 Electric Scooter features a 36 V, 7.5 Ah Li-ion battery that provides power for mileage of about 17 miles. This is usually enough to cover the distance from home to work/school/station of someone who can commute on an electric scooter (nobody does 60 miles per day on an electric scooter to work!)

The battery can be charged in 4 to 6 hours (from empty). This might seem a lot, but there are electric scooters for the same price range that have batteries that require even 10 hours of charging time.

Why we like about Hiboy MAX3 Electric Scooter:

  • Great value for money

The Hiboy MAX3 is one of the best commuting electric scooters you can have for this price range. For about $500 or even less, you can have a well-performant electric scooter with wide pneumatic tires and included a set of lights.

  • Pump included

The included pump was a nice surprise. If it wasn’t included you’d need to buy one separately.

  • Wider and thicker design compared its predecessors

The Hiboy MAX3 is a very stable and durable device: usually, electric scooters for this price range are lighter and thinner, but this is strong and has a wide deck to provide extra stability.

What we didn't like about Hiboy MAX3 Electric Scooter:

  • Weight

The Hiboy MAX3 is not extremely heavy, but it could be too heavy for someone. Think at the use you’re going to make of it: if you’ll need to lift it often, consider whether or not you’re comfortable lifting 40 lbs repeatedly.

  • The height is not adjustable

The stem tube isn’t adjustable and we’ve noticed that it’s a bit too short for taller riders. This can create some discomfort to the point that we don’t recommend the Hiboy MAX3 to very tall people.

Conclusion

When you take into consideration the price and aim of this electric scooter, you can hardly find an e scooter for commuters better equipped than the Hiboy MAX3. We recommend the Hiboy MAX3 electric scooter to all commuters or those who aren’t seeking extreme performances but searching for a stable and safe sustainable means of transport.
