As electric scooters become more and more popular there are always more models available. They have different features and prices, but in terms of appearance they all look quite alike, don’t they? Quality and Design :
As we’ve already mentioned, the Hover-1 Aviator Electric Scooter stands out for its unique design. Where most electric scooters are black and grey, the Hover-1 features an iridescent color frame that goes from fuchsia a to grey, to light blue. Yet, the Hover-1 doesn’t only look good, but it is also very well made. It feels sturdy and durable while also being very lightweight (21 lbs). The foldable design comes in handy when you need to carry the e-scooter around or when you need to store it somewhere narrow (it passes from 48 x 6.5 x 41 inches dimension to 13 x 6.5 x 41 inches when folded). Despite its lightweight, the Hover-1 can carry a lot of weight: it features a maximum load of 264 lbs, more than enough to carry you and your loaded backpack.
Handlebars
All the electric scooter’s controllers are located on the handlebar: you’ll find the electric brake red lever on the left, the acceleration throttle on the right, and an LCD display in the center. Both the throttle and the brake lever can be operated with the rider’s thumb; the LCD display provides useful information such as mileage, current trip distance, voltage, and current trip time. Also, the display shows the battery life indicator and the speed indicator.
Breaks
The Hover-1 features an electron brake that the rider can operate with their left thumb. The brake lever is highly distinguishable from the throttle one thanks to the position (on the left) and the red color of the whole lever. Additionally, the rider can operate a rear brake with their foot. Such a brake system is very efficient and allows you to bring the e-scooter to a quick but safe stop.
Tires
The Hover-1 features 6-5-inch tires. Larger wheels usually make the riding more stable and the overall performance more powerful, but our tests have proved that the e-scooter ensures good performance on flat and smooth terrains. When the terrain is not ideal for the riding, the Hover-1 would signal the issue to you.
Kickstand
You don’t necessarily have to fold your Hover-1 Aviator when you’re not riding it. You can also leave it standing and ready for the next ride thanks to the retractable kickstand. Also, the kickstand comes very in handy when you need to charge your e-scooter: you simply park it near the socket and plug it in.
Assembly
The Hover-1 Aviator Electric Scooter requires a super-simple assembly. First, it comes with a detailed user manual (other than how to assemble the scooter, it shows its functions, controls and how to read to display info correctly). All you need to do as soon as your Hover-1 comes to your house is attaching the handle grip to the handlebar: you basically need to place them into the appropriate sockets and twist them in the correct direction until they’re locked in their position. With the included hex key, you’ll be able to tighten or loosen the throttle and brake assembly.
Performance for Razor E325 Electric Scooter:
The Hover-1 Aviator features a 300-watt brushless motor. The e-scooter can reach a top speed of 15 mph. This is a decent top speed, quite common for e-scooter that comes at this price range, enough to carry you comfortably from one place to another but without the thrill of high speed. On the other hand, the Hover-1 Aviator is very safe: it feels sturdy, well-balanced and the brake system (combined with the moderate speed) can bring the scooter to a stop quickly and safely.
The riding feels agile and comfortable. The e-scooter goes smoothly on flat terrain despite its small tires: a front suspension, in fact, compensate for the lack of comfort caused by the small wheels. Flat and smooth terrains are where the Hover-1 can perform at its best – it slows down when climbing uphill, and it has some issue on rough terrains such gravel.
Battery life and charging time
The Hover-1 Aviator features a rechargeable 24V 4.0 Ah battery that provides a mile-range of about 7 miles. This is probably where the Hover-1 is most disappointing: 7 miles mile-range can be too short for a lot of riders that use their electric scooter to commute to work. On the other hand, the battery can be charged in about 5 hours. This seems a very long time but it is actually less than what some affordable scooters usually require (12 hours). Let’s say you use your electric scooter to commute to work and your house is 7 miles from your office: you could ride your Hover-1 to work, plug it in while you work, and then having it fully charged to come back home.
Why we like Hover-1 Aviator Electric Scooter:
- The Hover-1 Aviator looks just unique. In a market where electric-scooters look all alike, this one stands out with highly recognizable design.
- Safe and Comfortable. The overall performance is decent. The moderate speed combined with the efficient brake system makes the e-scooter very safe. The suspension also provides additional comfort to the ride.
- LCD DIsplay. The LCD display comes very in handy to read a lot of useful information about riding and – especially – the battery status.
What we didn't like about Hover-1 Aviator Electric Scooter:
- Small tires. Large tires usually provide improved balance and comfort during the ride. The Hover-1 Aviator features 6.5 inches tires that are smaller than other models by Hover itself. On the other hand, the suspension provides the necessary comfort so that the ride can be smooth and fun anyway.
- Mile-range. 7 miles mile-range is simply too short. The battery can be charged in 5 hours, but this doesn’t fully compensate for the short battery life.
Conclusion
The Hover-1 Aviator Electric Scooter looks unique and it’s also a very good value for money. We noticed a couple of things that we mentioned in this article that we didn’t like during our review, but the overall performance, combined with the unique look and the affordable price, make this Hover-1 Aviator an excellent choice among the e-scooters’ actual market.
