Quality and Design :

NANROBOT has a simple philosophy for designing its scooters, make them sturdy yet elegant, and the D5+ is no exception. The black aluminium alloy lends it strength, yet makes the scooter look elegant and well-designed. The D5+ is a foldable scooter, and it can be collapsed within seconds to maximize portability, making it much easier to store in the trunk of your car or your office. Apart from this, the NANROBOT D5+ also has folding handlebars and a telescoping pole which makes it much convenient to store it in small spaces, as compared to other scooters in the market. The scooter weighs in at 70 lbs. and while it is possible to carry it for a small period, you can’t haul it around stairs or for long distances without throwing your back out.

One of the things that set the NANROBOT D5+ apart from its competition is the ability to attach a seat, which is a fantastic addition if you plan on riding the scooter for a long commute and it increases the comfort level. The seat also helps lower the centre of gravity, which means that you can cruise at faster speeds with minimum instability, which is excellent if you ask us! There are many amazing features in this scooter, so let’s discuss them one by one to give you an idea of what the scooter offers.

Handlebars

Handlebars are an essential part of any scooter as they are the central hub that can be used to control all the features. The handlebars on the D5+ play this role well and have been designed after a meticulous thought process. Starting from the left, you have the lever to control the rear brakes, the engine button and the horn button. As you move to the right, you have the front brakes and the throttle, along with an LCD. The LCD has excellent contrast for day time viewing and a backlight for those late-night rides. All the information is nicely displayed on the screen, including the speed, battery, and the gear in which the scooter is currently on. You control the gears and turn on the LCD using a button adjacent to the display. Just below the screen, there are two more buttons. The yellow button switches the scooter between eco and turbo mode, while the red button switches between single or dual wheel drive. The light switch is conveniently built on the handlebars, and it serves its purpose well because you can turn the lights while riding, unlike some scooters which mount the light switch near the deck.

Breaks

The NANROBOT D5+ 2.0 can operate at very high speeds, so it crucial to have an excellent braking system for security purposes. NANROBOT has worked hard to deliver this, and the D5+ doesn’t disappoint in the brake department. The e-scooter has front and rear disc brakes that are controlled using the levers on the handlebars, and they can effortlessly stop the scooter in a matter of seconds. During our review, we found that the scooter has a braking distance of 11.6 feet while riding at 15mph, which is awe-inspiring and far superior than most scooters in this price range.

The disc brakes work in conjuncture with dual electric brakes, both of which can conveniently be controlled by the brake levers on the handlebars. One of the great things about the brakes is how smooth and effortless they feel, and you won’t feel any sudden jolts as the entire process is hassle-free and well optimized.

Lights

When you buy an electric scooter, chances are that you plan on riding it during the day and the night. For this purpose, it is essential that an e-scooter has functional front and rear lights, and the NANROBOT D5+ has made sure of this. The scooter is equipped with front and rear lights, along with turn signals and deck lights to make sure you are visible on the road at night time. The front light is bright and does the job well; however, it is mounted close to the ground, which means it can’t light up the way too far ahead. The rear light mainly acts as a signal for any cars coming behind you and ensures your safety when riding at high speeds.

Deck

The NANROBOT D5+ 2.0 features a spacious deck measuring 20”*9.5”, and it stands 5” above the ground. The wide floor adds stability to the scooter and makes it comfortable to stand for extended periods. You can also attach a seat to the deck, as mentioned above, for an ultimate experience. When folded, the floor securely locks in place with the stem, and the built-in kick plate near the fender on the deck can be used to carry it from one place to another. This makes it easier to move the 70 Lbs. Scooter around and if you have to carry it between public transports, you will appreciate this feature.

The deck has a kickstand attached to it which makes it a breeze to park the scooter for a short time without the risk of falling off.

Tires

The scooter has two 10-inch tires which make it suitable for riding on almost any surface. The tires are sturdy enough to be used on bumpy ground, yet the anti-slip feature makes it possible to ride the scooter on slippery surfaces without falling off.

Whenever you ride an electric scooter, you must notice how bumpy the ride is, and how easy it is to get off-balance if you accidentally run over a rock or irregularity. NANROBOT has put in a lot of effort to minimize this problem, and they have come up with an excellent dual suspension system to make your ride as smooth as possible. The front suspension consists of four shock absorbers, which are flexible enough to smooth out small bumps, and you won’t feel a thing. The rear suspension has two shock absorbers, and it does all the heavy lifting and smooths out bigger jerks and shocks for the best riding experience.

Alarm System

NANROBOT takes security very seriously, and it manufactured the D5+ 2.0 with a built-in alarm system that can be controlled via a wireless alarm controller. When you wish to park the scooter, use the key fob to activate the alarm and lock the scooter. After this, even a slight movement will turn on the super loud alarm unless you turn off the alarm. This is a handy feature and gives you peace of mind when you leave the scooter unattended.

Assembly

The scooter comes mostly assembled out of the box; however, spare a few minutes and inspect all the screws to make sure they are fastened securely. The tools for assembly are provided in the box along with instructions, and even if you not very tech-savvy, the assembly is straightforward, and at most, you would have to attach the handlebars and tighten some screws.

Performance for NANROBOT D5+ Electric Scooter:

The NANROBOT D5+ 2.0 is a beast of a machine, and it delivers incredible power thanks to a dual-motor setup. Both the motors are rated at a powerful 1000 Watts, and when you turn on dual-drive, the engine provides a whopping 2000 watts of power which is more than double of what an average scooter in this price range offers. This means that the scooter is able to accelerate in a matter of seconds and you get a top speed of 40 mph, which is incredible if you ask us! The D5+ 2.0 can switch between a single or dual motor mode to cater to your needs, and it also has economy and turbo modes. The economy mode is perfect if you want a longer battery life at the expense of speed, and it can considerably prolong the battery life. As is evident from the name, the turbo mode unleashes the beast to give you the best possible experience.

Most scooters usually perform well on flat terrains, so the real test is how the scooter performs on an incline. The powerful motor of the D5+ 2.0 makes it more than capable of handling any terrain, and at a 10% incline, the scooter delivers a top speed of as high as 16.4 mph. If you live in a hilly area, this scooter will not disappoint! The speed, however, depends on the weight of the rider and the degree of incline, but you can rest assured that the power hub will deliver in most conditions.

Battery life and charging time

The NANROBOT D5+ has a massive 52V, 26AH battery mounted under the footrest area. This battery can be fully charged in 10 hours, and you get a range of 50 miles from one full charge, amazing, isn’t it? The long range means that you can ride the scooter for a long distance and back without any fear of the battery running out mid-commute. Even though the batteries are superb, the range depends upon certain external factors including the rider’s weight, the incline and the type of road. However, the scooter provides one of the best battery life amongst its pears, and after a single overnight charge, you can comfortably ride it for at least a couple days!

What we liked about NANROBOT D5+ Electric Scooter:

  • The scooter impresses with its power, and with ultra-fast acceleration and a top speed of 40 mph, it is perfect for long commutes.
  • The 10-inch wheels and built-in suspension system makes sure that the ride is comfortable and smooth.
  • The NANROBOT D5+ 2.0 offers an incredibly long battery life, and with a range of 50 miles, you can easily ride the scooter for longer distances without draining the battery

The D5+ 2.0 offers premium features at a budget price, which is a major plus point!

What we didn't like about NANROBOT D5+ Electric Scooter:

  • The long battery life means that the batteries take quite long to charge, and some people may find 10 hours excessive for charging an e-scooter
  • The scooter weighs 70 lbs., so it may be a challenge to carry it. However, with the fantastic range and speed, we doubt you would be hauling it around on public transport.
