Electric scooters are an exciting means for your kids to ride around and have fun with their friends. If you are looking to buy a new scooter for your kid but are confused by the dazzling array of scooters in the market, you have come to the right place.

There are a wide variety of scooters that are designed specifically for children, but you need to keep a lot of factors in mind before investing in one. Do you want a scooter that is safe, has a decent battery life and comes with a reasonable price tag? If yes, then the Razor Power Core E90 Electric Scooter may be the one to consider. Let’s talk about the details of this scooter now

General Specs of Hiboy S2 :

Quality and design of Razor Power Core E90

The Razor Power Core E90 is a well-built electric scooter, and it looks and feels premium. The body is carved out of Powder Coated steel to give it extra strength and sturdiness. The scooter is mainly targeted at children so it comes in fun colors like green and pink, and visually it looks appealing.

It is a very light-weight scooter, weighing only 21.75 pounds which is significantly lighter than most scooters on the market. The lightweight makes it easier for the kids to carry it with them, so it was a very smart decision by Razor to increase the portability in this way. Even though it is not a foldable scooter, with dimensions of only 31.7” x 12.9” x 32.9”, it is still easy for you to store in the trunk of your car and take it along on trips and vacations.

- Handlebars

The Razor Power Core E90 has short handlebars that are better suited for kids, but the downside is that the height is not adjustable. If you kid out-grow the handlebars, you can’t adjust them accordingly. On the right-side grip, there is the push button throttle that you use to accelerate the scooter. To turn on the scooter, you have to kick start it while holding the throttle and the motor will turn on. There are no options to adjust the speed on the throttle, and the scooter always runs at a constant speed.

- Brakes

There are two types of brakes on the Razor Power Core E90, a rear pressure-sensitive brake, and a front hand brake. The handbrake is located on the left handle grip, and the rear brake is on the deck and it is controlled by feet. When coming to a halt, you need to release the throttle and then press the brakes to ensure that the scooter slows down securely. The handbrake is a welcome addition and it makes the braking process much safer.

- Kickstand

The scooter has a retractable kickstand that can be opened easily by the foot if you want to park the scooter. With the kickstand out, the scooter will stand on its own and there is no danger of the scooter falling off if while your kid is not riding it. It looks cool, and it is a very handy feature for the kids.

- Tires

The scooter has urethane tires that are abrasion and cut resistant, so you don’t have to worry about the tires puncturing while your child is riding. The tires provide a relatively smooth ride and you can ride the scooter on bumpy roads, but you will feel shocks on rough terrain. The tires are also anti-slip, so even if the roads are slippery after rain, you can have a safe ride.

Asembly

Even though assembly is quite straight-forward, you may need to help your child assemble the scooter when it comes out of the box. You need a 5mm Allen wrench for the assembly, which is included in the box. For the assembly, pop out the cap off the top of the deck. Place the handlebars on the deck and align them with the tires to make sure they are straight, and tighten the two bolts on the lower end using the included Allen wrench. Assembly should take you around 10 minutes from start to finish.

Performance for Razor Power Core E90

The Razor Power Core E90 is targeted at children, so it supports a maximum load of only 120 lbs. While it is enough for younger kids, older teens may not be able to ride it. The scooter features a 90-Watt hub motor. This supports speeds up to 10 mph which is adequate for kids. While the scooter will run smoothly on flat surfaces and attain maximum speed, don’t expect it to perform the same on hills and mountains. This is because the scooter has a lower torque (which is responsible to carry it uphill) than a powerfull adult scooter like Turboant Electric Scooter X7.

As I have talked about above, you have to kickstart the scooter before the motor can turn on. Once the motor is running, the scooter will quickly attain a speed of 10 mph. The throttle needs to be pushed only once and it will keep the motor running. The motor is super quiet and steady, and you won’t feel any jerks from it. The power hub motor is maintenance-free and you don’t have to worry about alignment or chains while your kid is riding. Another feature is that the scooter can function as a kick-style scooter if it ever runs out of battery while riding, and your kid can safely return home and then charge it.

With a 12 V, 90-watts motor, it may seem like the scooter is not powerful enough but if we consider the target audience, it is more than adequate. The motor along with the long-running time makes for incredible riding experience.

Battery

The Razor Power Core E90 has two 12V rechargeable batteries. After you take the scooter out of the box and have successfully assembled it, you need to charge it for at least 12 hours before you take it out for a spin.

This allows the battery to hold the maximum charge and you should never skip this crucial step. Once fully charged, the scooter has a run time of 80 minutes which is quite decent, and it ensures that your kid’s fun is not interrupted while he is riding.

When the battery runs out, plug it in and wait 12 hours for the scooter to recharge fully, and don’t take it off before 12 hours even if the battery light turns green. Make sure that the scooter is powered off when charging, and don’t leave it plugged in for more than 24 hours to avoid damaging the battery. If you don’t plan to use the scooter for some time, charge it fully before storing to prevent the battery from degrading.

  1. Great article on Razor Electric Scooter but kindly confirm me that weather it will ride on hills if yes then i will buy it for my kids.

    1. The Razor power core E90 can go uphill quite easily. Depending on the inclination, the speed will decrease while going up, but the overall ride remains smooth. The 90-Watt hub motor is small so don’t expect too much of it.

      1. Thanks for your response. Can you please give me any reciprocal option to Razor Power Core E90?
Something like best electric scooter for climbing hills that i think works best for my kids. kindly share some topic or details on it If it is possible for you …!!

        1. Hi, Louise

I found this great article that compares the various top-end electric scooters for kids as well as an in depth explanation on each of these items including performance specifications and features. The article also includes a list of scooters with more powerful engines that would be better at climbing hills such as the Gotrax XR Ultra Electric Scooter.

  2. I’m confused? Does this scooter have a to speed of 10mph or 15.5 mph.. The specs say it does both… Can anyone help me clear this up please?
