Electric scooters have become so popular in our streets that it’s been a while since a new model was able to surprise the public for its design and features.

The Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter is a welcome exception! It stands out from the crowd for its innovative design, but its performances are not inferior. Powerful, handsome and unique… let’s find out what’s so amazing about the Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter in our review!

Quality and Design of Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter :

The Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter features straight lines, cut edges, and net corners. This is a principle that guides any detail of the electric scooter’s design: from its deck, to its suspensions, from its handlebar to its display.

The overall look is unique and aggressive, yet it’s still suitable for an urban use: it doesn’t have that bulky, crossing look that many electric scooters with the same power have. You could ride your Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter in your casual business clothes and look entirely appropriate.

The structure is strong and sturdy: the electric scooter is capable of carrying a maximum load of 140 kg. Being so strong and so fast made the Apollo Phantom a little heavy: it weighs 35 KG, which doesn’t make it the best portable option for commuters who need to lift the device often along their way, for example to bring it on the bus or train or up some stairs.

However, this electric scooter does feature a foldable design: it comes in handy any time that you need to store the device somewhere, or simply put it away while you work at the office.

The Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter also comes with an IP54 Water Resistance certification: it doesn’t mean that the device is 100% waterproof! The IP54 certification only means that the device is protected from dust and splashes of water from all directions. You can’t wash it in your driveway as you’d do with your car, and you can’t ride it under the rain!

Handlebars

The Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter features a curved handlebar with rubberized handgrips whose angled design recalls the overall look of the e-scooter. The display, located in the center of the handlebar, features the same design, with a polygonal shape and sharp corners. It provides all the data you need during the ride and more. The only downside here is that the display is not perfectly readable under direct sunlight.

Two brake levers are located in front of any hand grip, while the thumb throttle is on the right. You can accelerate by just pushing it down with your right thumb while your hand is firm on the grip, and slowing the scooter down by just releasing it.

On the right side, you also have the Mode and Directional buttons. Additional buttons to control lights and other features are also located on the left side. Everything is cleverly located in a way that allows you to reach every button or lever without moving your hand or loosening your grip.

Lights

The Apollo Phantom comes with an all-inclusive set of lights. Other than the standard deck level lighting that helps make you visible on the road, it also features a powerful 1000 lumen headlight. This is more than enough to both signal your presence on the road and enlighten the road ahead of you. This is one of the few electric scooters that we tested that doesn’t need you to buy an additional headlight if you want to ride at night!

There is also a rear light and direction lights as well. Electric scooters with directional lights aren’t yet common but this is an important feature, especially for commuters or anyone who uses their electric scooter as their means of transport.

Brakes

The Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter features front and rear hydraulic brakes with 160 mm discs: these are the absolute best brakes you can have on an electric scooter. They are powerful and can take the device to a halt in a few meters. They are also smooth and responsive: you can ride, accelerating and slowing down gently without those annoying and dangerous jerks that lower quality brakes can provide.

These brakes also require low maintenance: they are durable and secure for a long time.

Tires

This electric scooter comes with thick and wide pneumatic tires: they are 3.25 inch thick and 10 inch in diameter. Pneumatic tires have their cons: they require some maintenance (pressure checking, inflating…) and they are subject to puncture, but there is a reason why high-end electric scooters all feature those instead of solid ones: they provide a greater performance!

The ride is smoother, more comfortable and – above all – more balanced. Bumps and irregularities of the roads are just taken care of in a better way, and you also have enhanced speed. Balance and comfort is also enhanced by the wide diameter of these tires.

The thickness and off-road pattern on the tire also allows you to ride on dirty lanes and off road.

Deck & Kickstand

The Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter features a large deck, with grooves to enhance the shoes’ grip on it. It’s wide and strong to hold tall and heavy guys and provide good comfort.

There is an angle-shaped footrest on the rear: it recalls the rear fender brakes of old or cheaper electric scooters but it’s not! It’s only a footrest, so don’t try to push it down with your rear foot. However, the deck is so large and wide that you’ll hardly find yourself placing your rear foot that far behind on the rear footrest.

Assembly

The Apollo Phantom comes in a big and heavy box. As soon as you open it you can notice how everything is carefully packed so that nothing – not even the user manual – can move from its position inside the box. This is how the manufacturer makes sure that the device and any accessory arrives intact at your house.

The package includes:

  • The electric scooter

  • Charger

  • Toolkit

The Electric scooter comes with a loose handle grip: the capable are attached but the handgrip itself is not. This is the assembly you’re required to do on your own. It’s not that hard, and everything you need is included in the package.

Once you’ve placed the handlebar on the top of the stem, you’ll need to fasten and secure some screws. Also, you can fasten the brake levers and other details on the handlebar: this is also an opportunity to customize the handlebar in order to have anything reachable with your fingers and thumbs without moving your hands from the hand grips.

Your last operation would be to check the tire pressure: you don’t want it to be too low (it would run out the battery) and you don’t want to be too high (the tires would become less resistant and more subject to puncture).

There are certainly scooters that require a faster assembly, but – still – this is nothing too difficult.

Performance for Apollo Phantom:

The Apollo Phantom is not only surprising for its design, but also for its performance. It’s powered by a dual 1.6 kW motor that can bring the device to 40 mph (64 km/h) top speed. What’s even more surprising is that- while most of electric scooters, and their manufacturers, claim that they can reach a certain nominal speed but you can usually expect at least 10 mph less in your actual use – with the Apollo Phantom you can actually a 64 km/h on the asphalt, even though you’re not the thinnest riders in the world.

WIth such a power at your disposal, heavy riders, those who bring heavy hags with them, those who ride on irregular paths with slopes, will have zero difficulties and won’t experience any loss of power.

The electric scooter performs well even off-road and even -we’ve already mentioned – when it needs to climb some hills. The fact that is has a powerful headlight, directional lights, and efficient brakes makes it safe enough to be used as a regular means of transport.

The front and rear suspensions contribute to making the ride even more comfortable, more balanced, and more secure.

The deck is 7 inches away from the ground (in technical terms, it has a 7’’ – or 17.5 cm – clearance) which allows the rider to safely jump on bumps and other irregularities safely and without damaging the device itself.

Battery life and charging time

The Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter features a 1200 Wh battery that uses Dynavolt cells (one of the top quality and most trusted by electric vehicles brands all around the world). With this, you can ride your electric scooter up to 25 miles (40 km).

This range is referred to as the worst scenario: when you ride fast, you’re heavy, and you don’t have a gentle riding style. This means that by slowing down and being gentle with your brakes and throttle you can reach a mileage of more than 40 miles (64 km) which is a lot!

Why we like about Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter:

  • Unique design

If you want to stand out from the crowd of look-alike electric scooters, this is the one for you!

  • Amazing Performance

The Apollo Phantom is powerful and fast. It’s also secure: the brakes work efficiently and smoothly, the throttle is very responsive, the comfort and balance is top.

  • Wide and thick tires

Simply, the perfect tires to enhance the e-scooter’s performances.

  • Price

The Apollo Phantom costs more than $1000. This can seem too much to many, but – for the characteristics of this device – this is not a high price at all!

What we didn't like about Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter:

  • Display

The display that is not perfectly visible under direct sunlight is one of the few downside of this impressive electric scooter

  • It’s a bit heavy

We’re not saying that we’d prefer the Apollo Phantom to be lighter: we’re aware that for its speed and power, it needs to have such a strong and heavy structure. However, commuters or anyone who needs to lift their electric scooter often during the day should be aware that this is not the electric scooter for them (unless they’re very strong and don’t mind some physical effort!).

Our rating

Features 90%
Battery range 90%
Top speed 90%
Quality 90%
Value for money 85%

Conclusion

Even if about $1500 can seem too expensive to many, for its features of design and performance this isn’t a high price for this electric scooter. On the contrary, we’d say that the Apollo Phantom Electric Scooter is quite a good value for money! For a price that is lower than the $2000 or even $3000 of the highest-end electric scooters, with the APollo Phantom you have a unique looking electric scooter that is also capable of great performance.

Other than speed, the power that allows you to ride uphill or on dirty lanes without experiencing loss of power is very much appreciated. These are the features that allow you to replace your old means of transport with a sustainable electric scooter!
