Quality and Design :
The Bird ES1-300 electric scooter is a well-built lightweight electric scooter, specifically designed for adults. Not only its measures (38.9 x 9.1 x 22.7 inches) and its maximum load (220 pounds), but the design itself is thought for an adult target: it’s all black with a white band on the tube. This electric scooter feels sturdy
Even if it isn’t a foldable scooter, it’s lightweight enough (27.6 pounds) to allow you easily carry it with you. Made from aircraft aluminum and high-density polymer, the Bird ES1-300 feels sturdy and durable – the perfect electric scooter for fun, commuting, and, with a maximum range per charge of 15.5 miles, long Sunday riding as well.
Bird ES1-300 is UL-2272 CERTIFIED and meets the standards of a ample system of safety tests made by Underwriter Laboratories. The testing parameters include both electrical and mechanical components and environmental aspects to assess electrical safety too.
Handlebar
The Bird ES1-300 features a short handlebar – we thought it was too short but it’s not: it feels super comfortable and very precise in the changes of directions. Having a short handlebar has another advantage: since the scooter isn’t foldable, a narrower handlebar allows you to store it more easily.
The handlebar features a central rider-facing LED display that shows you the speed and battery level. It also has thumb controls for throttle, breaks and a horn.
Breaks
The Bird ES1-300 has a dual braking system to give you more control on your ride. Other than the electrical braking that you can control with your left thumb through the lever on the handlebar, you can also operate the mechanical brake on the rear tires with your foot. For your safety – but also a touch of style – the scooter has also an LED brake light, other than a headlight and a cool ground effect light that illuminates the road as you go while improving your visibility to others around you.
Kickstand
When you park the scooter, you can use the kickstand on the front left side of the deck to make your scooter stay upright. This is another feature that we’ve found very useful: it helps compensate for the lack of a foldable structure. Also, the kickstand is very handy when you need to recharge it: you can “park” it close to a socket and plug it in.
Tires
The ES1-300 tires are large for ideal balance and comfort during long-distance riding. They don’t have the same diameter_ the front tire has an 8’’ diameter while the roar features a diameter of 7.5’’. We couldn’t feel this difference while riding the scooter – what we’ve felt is that the scooter is comfortable and very precise and balanced even at the highest speed. A coil suspension on the front is also very efficient in absorbing road shocks and minimizing bouncing for the most comfortable riding.
Motor
The Bird ES1-300 Electric Scooter features a 300 watts motor. To be exact, 300 watts is the nominal power. When the scooter goes with max engine power it reaches a wattage of 700 watts. In any case, this is not different from most of the other electric scooters in the market. This motor allows a max speed of 15.5 MPH giving you a range of up to 15.5 miles on a single charge.
Assembly
Setting up our new Bird ES1-300 Electric Scooter took less than two minutes. It comes with its charger/adapter, user manual, and a warranty card. It doesn’t require the App to work, so you can really jump up and go.

As we’ve already mentioned along with this review, the Bird ES1-300 offers you very comfortable and smooth riding. This is probably due to a bunch of features, such as the large tires, the shock absorption system, and the precision of the device even at top speed and while changing direction. Breaks are easily (and safely) reachable, thumb controls are handy they feel sturdy but not loose. The speed the scooter can reach is very enjoyable too. It may not be Grand Prix top speed, but it’s enough to make you feel the wind on your face.
The motor is also quiet – you won’t hear any buzzing from it.
The LED screen is very easy to read – the information it displays are clear and wide enough so you don’t have to squint to read how fast you’re going. The front and rear light are especially useful to make others aware of your presence, while the front headlight is bright enough to allow you riding even at night.
Battery life and charging time
The Bird ES1-300 requires a lithium-ion battery which comes included in the package. The recharge is pretty fast. It’s a pity that it doesn’t have a second battery: it can be very useful for long rides because you can always have a spare fully charged battery to replace your expired one with. It also has a good battery life, this scooter can really take you up to 15 miles away.

What we really appreciated about this scooter is its overall performance. Being designed for adults, it’s nothing less than a real means of transport. It has all the features to make you stay safe on the road, the sturdiness and speed to allow you to arrive on time at work, and the battery life to take you up to 15 miles away.
What we didn't like about Bird ES1-300 Electric Scooter:
What we don’t like about this scooter is:
- that is not foldable – even though he manufactures have tried to compensate with some features such as the narrow handlebar and the handy kickstand
- the lack of a second battery.

What is the retail price for the Bird Scooter ES!-300? The links to Amazon don’t work. Does this mean there is no stock available?

As a note you are able to download the Segway app and update the firmware on the Bird. This allows you to limit the speed if desired.
